About

About Me

Hi, I'm Ashish. I'm a student at the University at Buffalo pursuing my Master's in Artificial Intelligence.

I'm drawn to the full picture of AI Engineering. From understanding a model well enough to deploy it, to building the product that actually matters to users. For me it's not just about models that perform well on benchmarks, but systems that solve real problems across a variety of domains. My projects span discrete diffusion models, multi-agent RAG systems, and full-stack AI products.

The common thread is building useful things and building them well.

Software Engineer Intern

  • Currently interning with the Data Quality & Observability team.
June 2025 - August 2025 Buffalo, NY

Software Engineer Intern

  • Designed and developed a new Record Mapping Tool internal application to support the Digital Data Records Retention Team (DDRR) within Enterprise Data and Analytics. Created a full-stack NLP-powered web application to deliver a seamless experience for helping members of DDRR and internal points of contact map records to the enterprise retention schedule, with ~80% accuracy.
  • Developed two NLP similarity engines using TF-IDF (lexical comparison) and ConceptNet Numberbatch (semantic comparison) for mapping user queries to the records retention schedule. Eased the application onboarding process for data owners and internal stakeholders, as well as the manual research workload for the DDRR team.
  • Engineered a REST API to enable seamless communication between the React frontend and Flask backend, with Figma utilized for UI prototyping. Demonstrated end-to-end technical ownership with data preprocessing, natural language processing implementation, front and backend web application development, technical documentation, and internal stakeholder presentations.
  • Proactively engaged with internal points of contact in the bank to gather context and assist with accurate record code mappings for legacy digital records stored in FileNet. Extracted 415 unique document types across 36 templates.
